Martin Luther King Jr. Assassinated

Martin Luther was shot to death outside a hotel in Memphis, Tennessee.  King later died at St. Joseph’s hospital. His death sparked waves of rioting throughout several cities in America.

Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. completed a march protesting the denial of voting rights to blacks. King led thousands of protesters walking about 12 hours a day from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama sleeping in fields along the way.
