What Is A Proper Smash Budget?
$20, $45, $100, $150… no this isn’t an auction. Those are a few dollar amounts that may be spent on a first date. Ok, $20 may be on the low end, but who is to say what’s too low and that $20 can’t get you a good time in 2017? I say first date, because the amount spent really does not matter on date number 2 or date number 50. It is usually the first date which is the first impression that will grant you a second date. So how much should be spent on the first date? There isn’t a wrong or right answer to this question, but here is my take.
This one may depend on the person you’re dating, your budget and how much time you have to prepare for the date. I believe if you’re a guy (because it seems we are expected to pick up the tab on the first date) you should work within your budget. Since you are likely choosing what the date will consist of you will be able to plan around that budget. The person you’re dating may have a particular spot that they would like to go to. If you’ve asked your date if they had a particular spot in mind, you may have to take them there.
But what if they say they said they want to go Goosefoot, but you are on a McDonald’s budget? You may need to ask if they are paying. Or you shouldn’t have asked where they would like to go. At the same time you would hope that your date wouldn’t suggest something expensive. If you know your budget is tight, you need to plan the best date you can on that budget. It is very possible. To be honest there is no right or wrong answer to this. You have to be real with yourself and your date. If you are arranging the date you need to stick to your budget. There is no need to go into debt trying to impress your date. I feel if you put enough thought into the date you’ll be good. If you’ve paid attention to the type of person that you are dating you’re even better off. Because if you’re trying to keep up with someone that is trying to live a Kardashian lifestyle and you can’t afford that; you’re the fool. Be real with yourself. Treat her to a place that you can afford. Maybe, if she is comfortable, offer to cook dinner at your or her place.
Before I go I should mention that my girlfriend says that $150 is perfect. LOL. But, our first date consisted of us being at my place, watching random TV shows on Hulu, and having Italian Beefs delivered to us from Rosati’s Pizza.
What did your first date consist of and how much was spent?
